Round the clock work continued as hundreds of Brookfield Homes Hawai’i employees, building industry craftsmen, and community volunteers began the simultaneous vertical build of the home and the new Keiki O Ka Aina community center. Specific activities included the laying of foundation, framing and roofing, and electrical work. Despite passing rain showers and muddy conditions, spirits remained high as the Extreme Team soldiered on to complete the largest structure ever built in Extreme Makeover: Home Edition history.

Alika Macias ~ Coastal Construction

After finishing a 17 hour shift, Costal Construction volunteer Alika Macias admits that this is the largest project that he has ever worked on. “I also grew up with a single mom and understand the challenges and struggles that the family has gone through,” says Alika. “It is such an honor to be out here helping such a deserving family that has not only taken care of their own family but has touched thousands of others in the community.” When asked if he has plans to attend the reveal, Alika replies, “I wouldn’t miss it for the world.”
